Part One: Waldo Canyon Fire Recovery Assistance

Over the next few days, we will be sending out a series of emails answering frequently asked questions about sources of recovery assistance:

  1. Small Business Administration (SBA)
  2. Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG)
  3. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

In today's email, we will cover SBA loan opportunities, as the deadline to apply is October 9th.

Question:
What types of Federal Assistance are available to survivors and local communities?

Answer:
Homeowners who need assistance for rebuilding, deductible payments or other repair related expenses should contact the SBA. The SBA is providing low interest loans (less than 2%) of up to $200,000 for rebuilding expenses and $40,000 to qualifying homeowners affected by the High Park and Waldo Canyon Fires. The deadline for applying for SBA assistance for home loans is October 9th, 2012. SBA is also providing economic injury loans to businesses impacted by the fires. The deadline to apply for economic injury loans is May 9th, 2013.There are no fees for these loans.

Please call SBA Customer Service at 1-800-659-2955 or email them at disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

In a subsequent email, we will discuss who to contact if the SBA cannot meet your needs.
