In response to the overwhelming public interest in the Mountain Shadows Park Renovation Project, the Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation team sponsored a series of professional and public meetings to decide the future of this beloved foothills community. Popular consensus envisions a park that is fun, versatile, integrates well with its natural environment, the surrounding neighborhood and benefits people of all ages and abilities.

Finally, many participants felt strongly that the park should serve as a tribute to the victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire.
